What is Specialised Behaviour Support?
Specialised Behaviour Support is a specialised approach designed to help individuals, often those with disabilities, understand and manage challenging behaviours in a safe, respectful, and effective way.
What does a specialist Behaviour therapist do?
A Specialist Behaviour Support Therapist works with individuals - often with disabilities, developmental delays, or mental health conditions - to understand and reduce challenging behaviours in a safe, respectful, and person-centred way.
1. Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessment
We are developing Behaviour Support Plans that may include the temporary use of restrictive practices, always with the clear intention to reduce and eliminate their use over time.
We are also designing Behaviour Management Plans that come with practical training for carers, educators, and support staff—ensuring they feel confident in supporting individuals with complex needs.
Our individual social skills and resilience programs are available face-to-face, online, or through outreach across Melbourne. Each program is designed to meet participants where they are and help them thrive.
These programs may include:
– Observations in learning or care environments
– Building capacity to support individuals with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Autism (ASD), ADHD, and Intellectual Disabilities
2. Develop Personalised Intervention Programs
Personalised interventions are informed by data-driven insights to guide appropriate and effective adjustments. Developed in close collaboration with parents, carers, support staff, partners, and schools, our bold, innovative, and forward-thinking approach supports individuals in managing intense emotions, applying safer de-escalation strategies, and fostering a sense of calm and stability — empowering them to flourish and thrive.
3. Provide Therapy and Skill-Building
Personalised interventions are guided by data-driven insights to ensure appropriate and effective support strategies. Developed in strong collaboration with parents, carers, support staff, partners, and schools, our bold, innovative, and progressive approach helps individuals manage overwhelming emotions, implement safer de-escalation techniques, and build a foundation of calm and stability — empowering them to grow, flourish, and thrive.
